Josh Turner, I Serve a Savior

Known for his rich deep voice and distinctive style, Grammy-nominated country musician Josh Turner has sold more than 2.5 million units. I Serve a Savior marks his first gospel album and first appearance in Billboard’s Christian charts, debuting at number two both on that chart and the Top Country Albums Chart and number one on Nielsen’s Country Albums Chart.

“This project was truly a dream come true,” says the Local 257 (Nashville, TN) member. “It’s something I have wanted to do for a long time. God opened the door and I walked through it. When I look back, this will be one of my favorite projects of my career.”

The faith-based collection produced by Kenny Greenburg includes hand-picked hymns, alongside originals and live recordings of the hits “Me and God” and “Long Black Train.” The album also includes the song “The River (of Happiness)” penned by Turner’s wife, Jennifer, and eldest son Hampton. His four sons and wife also sing on the track.

Lukas Foss: Three American Pieces for Clarinet in Bb and Piano

First arranged by Local 802 (New York City) member and clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, this edition of Lukas Foss’s Three American Pieces for Clarinet in Bb and Piano offers clarinet revisions by Seunghee Lee. As a clarinet student, Lee fell in love with Stoltzman’s original arrangement and later worked directly with Foss to improve the piece’s playability for performance on the clarinet.

Gaetano Donizetti Concertino in F for English Horn and Orchestra

Previously known only through a spurious edition in G Major, the authentic Concertino in F was discovered in Italy by Pedro Díaz, a member of Local 802 (New York City) and English hornist with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He prepared this edition by comparing multiple historical sources and an intimate knowledge of Donizetti’s works. The publication includes extensive historical notes.

Tom Brunner, The Final Cluck (20 Years of Elvis Chicken)

Local 41 (Johnstown, PA) member Tom Brunner isn’t kidding when he says “Weird Band Alert!” He wears a chicken head onstage while performing television show theme songs such as “Hawaii 5-0” on a Suzuki Q-Chord synth-guitar, and squawks occasionally. The Final Cluck contains 27 tunes, from “Turkey Bells” to “Coconut Island of Love.”

Brunner says performing with a rubber chicken head on is something he’s still working on perfecting. “I do a 40-minute set, and after about 25 minutes it starts to get really hot and heavy in there,” says Brunner, who has also been known to do somersaults in his very unique and unpredictable show.
