Based on a combination of an Eastern modal system (maqam) and Western harmony applied to oriental modalities, flamenco has long confused Western composers. This series is a theoretical and practical manual for composers and performers interested in modal music, and/or flamenco modalities. The three volumes cover: (1) harmonic aspects of the seven basic modes; (2) main flamenco modes and their melodic and harmonic aspects (3) modern pentatonic, hexatonic, heptatonic, and octatonic scales in the flamenco modal language.
