The 2019 inductees into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville have been announced, and nearly every name on the list is an AFM member. They will be honored with a concert slated for Oct. 22 at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
Thirty names will enter the hall of fame later this year, including country superstars Alabama (Jeff Cook, Teddy Gentry, and Randy Owen, all of Local 257, Nashville, TN), Don Everly of The Everly Brothers (Local 257), acclaimed singer/songwriter/guitarist Steve Wariner (Local 257), and Rascals vocalist/ keyboardist Felix Cavaliere (Local 257).
Three groups of session musicians were also announced as part of the 2019 class: The Original Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section (including David Briggs, Norbert Putnam, Terry Thompson, and Reggie Young, all members of Local 257), The Muscle Shoals Horn Section (including Harvey Thompson of Local 256-733, Birmingham, AL), and “The Players” (including Eddie Bayers, Paul Franklin, John Hobbs, Brent Mason and Michael Rhodes, all of Local 257).
Inductees are nominated by union members of the American Federation of Musicians. Tickets to the October 22 induction ceremony and concert go on sale August 5 through the Schermerhorn Symphony Center box office.
