IM -In mid December, more than 8,000 musicians gathered in Seoul, Korea, in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for largest orchestra. The orchestra was made up of amateur musicians from churches located around the country. They performed a seven-minute medley of Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance Marches, the South Korea national anthem, and two hymns. Organized by Christian Television Station and Music Home the event held at the Gocheok Sky Dome was designed to help promote the upcoming PyeongChang Olympics. An official Guinness World Records adjudicator was present to recognize 8,076 players. The previous record was 7,224 and occurred in Brisbane, Australia.
